Piece D seaward oil permit denied


The administration denied the seaward oil investigation permit of CPHL (Cambodia) Co Ltd after the venture neglected to meet the terms of its petroleum assention, a state official said yesterday.

Meng Saktheara, secretary of state at the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), said his service advised CPHL a week ago that it had scratched off the organization's agreement to investigate for oil in Block D, a seaward concession spreading over 5,500 square kilometers in the Gulf of Thailand.

"There was correspondence between the service and the contracting party about the disappointment of the organization to satisfy the commitments of its petroleum assention," he said.


"Also, in view of this disappointment it was chosen to end the agreement."

Singapore-based Mirach Energy Ltd, which possesses a 48-per penny enthusiasm for CPHL (Cambodia) Co Ltd, reported in a recording on Thursday that it had lost its Block D permit.
